Are you interested in the Bujinkan Dojo and Ninjutsu?

This section will give you some information about basic training, pricing and the Bujinkan gudelines.

Sanshin No Kata

Sanshin no kata are five basic techniques found in Ninjutsu. They are used to become familiar with the proper timing, distance, and angling which is so important to the ninja. Sanshin No Kata are the first techniques beginner should learn.

The five Sanshin No Kata techniques are:

Kihon Happo

The Kihon Happo is a set of eight techniques that demonstrate the various locks, throws, takedowns, and strikes used in Ninjutsu. It is from the Kihon Happo that most of the other techniques and variations found in Ninjutsu are based.

The Kihon Happo consists of

The first three techniques, known as the Koshi Sanpo Waza (finger striking three ways) are: Ichimonji no kata, Jumonji no kata and Hicho no kata. These three also happen to be three of the basic kamae (stances), which we use. These kata are basically made up of defensive movements in response to an opponent’s attack and then an offensive counter.

The next five techniques are known as the Torite Goho (arm attacking five ways). As the name for this group of techniques implies, these movements usually attack an opponent’s arms and involve taking the attacker to the ground in ways that do not allow him to land safely. The five techniques are: Omote Gyaku dori, Ura Gyaku dori, Ganseki Nage dori, Muso dori and Omote Gyaku Tsuki Dori.

Pricing

Dojos operate with different fees, but for a two hour session 10-15$ is to be expected. Some dojos have different payment options where it is possible to pay in advance, monthly or weekly. To gain an understanding of Ninjutsu training before deciding to come on a regular basis, the first lesson for beginner students is free.

Guidelines

It is VERY important that everybody who is a member of the Bujinkan dojo complies with the Guidelines of Participation. Take time to read through it thoroughly. If you do not comply with these rules you should not train!

Next step is to find a dojo and qualified instructor in your local area. Make sure that whoever you train with is a Shidoshi kai or a Shidoshi Ho. Shidoshi Kai means licensed instructor and 5th Dan (degree black belt) and above. Shidoshi Ho is a junior instructor that is allowed to teach under the supervision of a Shidoshi Kai. Another important aspect, the instructors should travel to Japan and Taikai on a regular basis, or be affiliated with instructors that do this. This is to ensure that the trainingis true and current to grandmaster Maasaki Hatsumi sensei’s teaching.

Any questions regarding training don't hesitate to contact us.
